CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week is National Reconciliation Week. The theme for 2023, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.
Congratulations to the children who made their Confirmation on Sunday morning. Confirmation completes Baptism. In the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism Oil, which first happened at Baptism, they are now confirmed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
With so many cases of COVID in the school I encourage parents to do a RAT if their child has cold like symptoms and keep them at home until they are well. There are no longer any mandates in place, however, to reduce the rapid spread of the virus please do not send children to school if they are unwell or have tested positive. The 5 days rule is still a recommeded guideline. Siblings who have not tested positive are able to attend school but should be tested daily. Masks are another option to consider. And then there is the FLU! Happy days.
Our Learning Showcase is on June 14th from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to come into the classrooms to see your child's work and let them talk to you about their successes and challenges as learners.

CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS!
On Friday 19th May a number of students attended the Warrnambool and District Primary Schools Division Cross Country Championships at the Reid Oval in Warrnambool. On average, in each age group, there were 60-70 participants from school’s across the Warrnambool, Portland and Hamilton districts. The following table highlights our children and their wonderful efforts on what was a very rainy, windy day for long distance running.
Competitors who finished in the top ten were then invited to attend the Greater Western Regional Primary Schools Cross Country Championships, this last Monday, at Reid Oval.
Freddie, Occy and Charlotte were our advancers to the Regional Final and again they performed superbly to all finish in the top 30 runners.
Occy finished 26th, Freddie finished in 25th and Charlotte Versace was 16th.
Congratulations again to all our committed and talented distance runners.
SCIENCE NEWS
This term, the Year 1 and 2 children have enjoyed taking part in some extra Science activities with the Deakin University student teachers. They were learning all about forces and investigating different types of pushes and pulls.
We look forward to welcoming the Deakin students back next term, for some more science fun!

SYLVIE SUNSHINE DAY
SYLVIE SUNSHINE DAY - THURSDAY JUNE 22
For our Term 2 School Wellbeing Day, St Pat's is hosting a Sylvie Sunshine Day, on the last day of term.
Sylvie Sunshine Day is held in memory of Sylvie Watty, big sister of St Patrick's students Frank and Vera Watty. This year, the day will aim to support local Warrnambool charity 'We've Got You'. Students will be asked to bring a gold coin donation on the day.
The students will be participating in a lapathon and staff members will be joining together in the lead up to the day to run a marathon... (distance covered as a team!)
Getting out and moving our bodies is a great way to look after our wellbeing and even in the midst of winter this remains super important.
In the classrooms, the day will also focus on how we can be someone's 'sunshine' by bringing some positivity and smiles to others faces, even when the weather might not be as bright!
Students are encouraged to dress in yellow, sunshine theme, on the day and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed.
Assembly will be held in the afternoon and parents are welcome to join us!

DOBCEL Consultative Committee Leadership Vacancies
The DOBCEL Board provides opportunities for members of the diocesan education community, and others with relevant expertise, to participate in the mission of DOBCEL, to assist its governance and decision making and to inform faithful stewardship of the mission through DOBCEL Consultative Committees.
