CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was wonderful to see so many parents around the school for our Learning Showcase on Wednesday. The children were obviously excited to show you their work and share their learning goals with you.
Reports will be available on PAM by the end of this Friday, please remember to use the QR code sent home last week to access detailed descriptors of learning achievements and goals for literacy and numeracy in Essential Assessment.
Our Girls Soccer Team are in Ballarat today for the School's Soccer Championships. Thank you to Cara Coxall for her coaching skills and to all of the parents who took their girls to the event.
Please support the Sylvie Sunshine day next Thursday, to raise funds for families who have experienced an infant death. The children will wear yellow and bring a gold coin donation. They will be walking around the oval to show their support for those who are running marathon distances for this charity. At St. Patrick's we continue to engage with social justice events to bring about the dignity and common good for all.

Looking Back - Looking Forward
At this time of term it is nice to reflect on the year so far and look forward to the rest of the school year.
Here are the 3/4L students thoughts
SPORTS NEWS
It has been a busy time for St. Patrick’s Year 5/6 winter sports teams over the last couple of weeks.
We were represented at the Warrnambool, Portland, and Hamilton Division Winter Sports competitions for Girl’s Football, Boys Football, Girl’s Soccer and mixed Netball on the 8th and 9th of June at various venues across Warrnambool. All of these teams had advanced to this round due to winning their Moyne School’s District competitions.
The future of Australian Women’s Soccer is in good hands with the St. Patrick’s Girl’s Soccer team defeating Warrnambool East Primary School, in a Division Grand Final for the ages.
Tied at the end at one goal apiece, the game went to 14 minutes of extra-time. As players tired however, it became obvious. This game was headed for a penalty shoot-out. And so it was. Tied at 2-2 in the penalties, with both teams with one shot remaining it was Mia Coxall who stepped up to the spot. Bang! 3 - 2! It came down to goalkeeper Lola Myers. Would she keep it out one more time and give her team the win? You bet! Game over. Division Champions 2023.
A big thankyou must go to Cara Coxall for coaching our girls soccer team. Clearly knows her soccer and has the girls organised very well. Also a big thank you to the parents for assisting with transport and supporting the children on the day.
Our St. Patrick's Matildas’ headed to Ballarat Today for the state's Greater Western Region Primary School Finals.
Girls Football
Our Girl’s Football team did brilliantly to make the semi-finals by finishing second in their group after having two victories over Warrnambool Primary school, and a loss and a draw against Our Lady Help of Christians. This was enough to finish second in our group and play in a semi-final against Warrnambool East Primary School. The fifth game of the day proved to be one too many for our girls as they went down by nine points. Most importantly though, our girls, many playing their first ever game, had a wonderful time and grew in confidence all day. Everyone of them made important contributions throughout our matches. Piper Lawrance, Charlotte Versace, Lola Myers, Eadie Archbold, Layla Frost and Ivy Condon may have piqued the interest of AFLW recruiters however.
Boys Football
The road to the Greater Western Region finals was to go through St. John’s Primary School, Timboon Primary School, Portland North Primary School and the near 20 year undefeated St. Joseph’s Primary School. First up in blustery conditions were the St. John’s outfit from Dennington. The much bigger St. John’s were able to run out comfortable winners by 14 points. Our lone goal scorer being Isaiah.
A strong first half and goals by Royce, Isaiah and Cooper against the Timboon boys saw the St. Paddy’s jump out to a 22 point lead at halftime. In a nail biting finish however, Timboon took advantage of a strong breeze to kick 4 straight in the second half to claim a two point victory.
With seconds remaining and down by 4 points against Portland North PS, Occy Hayes took a contested mark 25 meters out, directly in front of goal. Occy went back and calmly slotted it to help seal our first win of the day. Matty and Isaiah were our other goal scorers for the game.
Our final game was a strong effort against a very strong and tall St Joseph’s Primary School who were able to dominate possession for the majority of the game and win by a comfortable margin. All in all, a great day of football experience for our boys who played to their very best fairly and respectfully. Thanks must go to Tom Sell for his coaching of the boys and sharing his footy knowledge with them. Thanks also to the parents and family who supported the boys on the day.
Mixed Netball
Our mixed netball had a very successful day last Friday in Warrnambool. After the initial hiccup of limited toilet facilities we regained our composure and played our first game against Portland. We played a very tactical game against Portland and won the game quite convincingly. Our next game was against Allansford. Allansford had a number of quality and experienced netballers; luckily we were able to match them with skill and speed. Our team passed the ball well and came from behind to win the game by 2 goals. Our final game was against St Patrick’s, Camperdown. This team had a number of strong players and we were well matched in the centre and defensive thirds. Unfortunately the Camperdown goalies were extremely accurate and at the end of the first half, Camperdown had a comfortable lead. Camperdown continued their consistent play and went on to win the game.
Game scores were then tallied and we discovered that we were in the Grandfinal. We faced St Patrick’s Camperdown. The grandfinal was played in good spirits with both teams having equal passages of play in the first half. Camperdown drew away in the second half and were crowned the winners for the day. Thanks to all our players who gave up their day off to play. It is the first time that St Patrick’s Port Fairy have made the district finals in netball.
Thank you to all the parents that came and supported us.

SYLVIE SUNSHINE DAY
SYLVIE SUNSHINE DAY - THURSDAY JUNE 22
For our Term 2 School Wellbeing Day, St Pat's is hosting a Sylvie Sunshine Day, on the last day of term.
Sylvie Sunshine Day is held in memory of Sylvie Watty, big sister of St Patrick's students Frank and Vera Watty. This year, the day will aim to support local Warrnambool charity 'We've Got You'. Students will be asked to bring a gold coin donation on the day.
The students will be participating in a lapathon and staff members will be joining together in the lead up to the day to run a marathon... (distance covered as a team!)
Getting out and moving our bodies is a great way to look after our wellbeing and even in the midst of winter this remains super important.
In the classrooms, the day will also focus on how we can be someone's 'sunshine' by bringing some positivity and smiles to others faces, even when the weather might not be as bright!
Students are encouraged to dress in yellow, sunshine theme, on the day and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed.
Assembly will be held in the afternoon and parents are welcome to join us!
