CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
We celebrated St Patrick's Day in style with a mass at St Patrick's Church, a hot dog lunch and our annual St Pat's Got Talent Show. To top that all off we had a very stubborn wallaby taking up residence in our school grounds. When we have an incident with an animal in the grounds, we keep the children indoors. After the staff finally guided him outside the gate, we found him in the yard again the next morning. Wildlife Victoria assisted to relocate him.
Tomorrow we will be celebrating Harmony and Inclusion Week. It is important that everyone in our school community is treated equally and has a strong sense of belonging. Harmony Week is an opportunity to celebrate our diversity and reflect on how we are inclusive of all in our community.
I will be at a Principal's Conference in Lorne from Tuesday evening until Friday. The focus of the conference is about leading with strength. I'm looking forward to being inspired by a variety of world-renowned speakers. Tristan Fay and Eliza Dwyer will be leading the school in my absence.
School photos are on Monday. Please ensure that all children are in the correct summer uniform, even down to their socks and shoes. Long hair must be tied back (school-coloured accessories only), in accordance with our school's uniform policy.

FOUNDATION ATHLETICS
On Tuesday 12th March, Foundation students competed in their school athletics competition. Running, jumping and throwing events were organized and run by our Year 6 leaders, who did a fantastic job of encouraging and supporting our new students in 2024. Congratulations to our girls champion Josie Baulch and our boys champion Percy Brian for their excellent performances across all events. Thank you to Ms Heggie, and all the parents and grandparents for attending on the day to support the children.
ST PATRICK'S CROSS COUNTRY
Tomorrow, at Russell Clark Reserve the annual St Patrick’s School Cross Country run will be held.
Students will run in three age groups: 10 year olds, 11 year olds and 12/13 year olds. These ages largely comprise Year 4, 5 and 6 students. The age a child turns on their birthday this year is the age group they will compete in. 10 year olds run a distance of 2km and 11/12 and 13 year olds run a distance of 3km. It is compulsory for all students to participate and attempt at least one lap of their course.
Year 3 students will compete in a smaller modified course, whilst Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students do not participate on this day as their long distance running event will be held on the school grounds at a later date.
The top 8 runners in each age group and gender will advance to the Moyne School’s District Cross Country at the same venue on 10th May in Term 2.

HARMONY WEEK
We celebrate the cultural diversity of our community which encompasses the variety of cultures, beliefs and traditions that contribute to a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives at St Patrick's school community. By valuing every family’s cultural background, we enable them to excel in all facets of life. Nurturing an environment of curiosity, open-mindedness and respect for all cultures, will not only promote unity but a deeper appreciation of ourselves and others.
As a Catholic school community we can instil an appreciation for cultural diversity which is vital to equip young people with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly interconnected world. During Harmony Week we focus on how best to embrace and celebrate cultural diversity within our community.
With this in mind, we wish those in our community of Muslim faith “Ramadan Kareem” (have a generous Ramadan) from March 10th to April 9th.,
SCHOOLTV - HARMONY WEEK
Harmony Week is celebrated annually during March to highlight our diverse cultures and help us better understand each other’s experiences and backgrounds. During this week, the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is also acknowledged on 21st March. Harmony Week is an opportunity to recognise Australia's multiculturalism, which embraces people from all over the world, especially indigenous Australians. As a nation, we are encouraged to promote respect, understanding and appreciation for all cultures.
