WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER (WWME)
CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with great sadness that we farewell Bec Lawlor, our Finance Officer this week. Bec has been working in that role at St Patrick's for 9 years. She has been working part time between 2 schools and now has the opportunity to be full time at St Pius X in Warrnambool.
We had a wonderful observance of Harmony Day last Friday. The children embraced and celebrated the cultural diversity that makes up our St Patrick's school community. Thank you to Miranda Hutabarat and her parents, Alex & Sylvie, who demonstrated aspects of their Indonesian culture for us.
On Tuesday we welcomed 37 Japanese students from Doshisha to St Patrick's. Anne Robertson organised for them to join her Japanese lessons for the day and our senior students buddied with them in the school yard. Well done Anne.
Our Easter Egg raffle was very well supported by families. Thank you for your generosity. Funds raised will contribute to the Parents & Friends fundraising efforts for 2024. We also donated a basket of eggs to Food Share as part of our Catholic Social Teaching strategy.
I want to thank all of our hard-working staff who have put in an enormous Term 1. It was a short but action packed term, with lots of extracurricular activities to fit in around our usually busy schedule.
I wish all families and staff a happy and restful holiday.
Olga Lyons
TERM 2 STARTS ON TUESDAY APRIL 16
The staff at St. Patrick's will be participating in a Professional Learning Day on Monday April 15. There will be no school for students.

Our Mini Vinnie leaders, Eadie and Claudia delivered some Easter Eggs to Food Share for families who are not in a position to enjoy the feast of Easter in the same way that most families can. Thank you to everyone who donated to our Easter Raffle and enabled us to support the poor in our local community.
FAREWELL - BEC LAWLOR
This week we farewell Bec Lawlor. Bec has worked at St Pat's for 9 years in the role of Bursar and most families would know Bec from helping them with their schools fees. Bec has also been a great help to the P & F in assisting them with their financial needs. We will miss Bec's efficency, willingness to help and her amazing work ethic.
Bec is leaving us to take up a full time position at St Puis in Warrnambool where she has been working part time. Bec is looking forward to less travel time and being in one place.
We wish Bec all the best for the future.
STAFF NEWS - WELCOME!
In Term 2 we will welcome Shae Smith as our new Finance Officer. Shae is a qualified and experienced accountant and is well know in the community for her role in establishing a flourishing Little Athletics organisation in Port Fairy. Shae will be working all day on Mondays and half days on Tuesdays and Fridays.
PE NEWS
Huddo is 3rd Fastest in the Region!
Last Friday three of our students competed in the Greater Western Region Swimming Championships in Horsham. Year 4 students, Hudson Lehne, Evie Oswin and Matilda Brian made the long journey up to Horsham with their parents to compete against some of the state's best swimmers.
Evie finished in 5th position for her 50m breaststroke final. So there are only four children faster in the western half of the state. This is such an amazing effort.
Matilda finished in 10th position overall so there are only nine faster children in the western half of the state that swim 50m freestyle quicker than her. We are very proud of her efforts.
Hudson managed to finish even higher up and claimed 3rd overall position for his 50m backstroke event. To finish in the top 3 is a huge achievement and we are extremely proud of Hudson’s result.
Thank you to Hudson, Evie and Matilda’s parents for making the journey up to Horsham and allowing the children to compete.
YEAR 6BM NEWS
In inquiry Years 5 & 6 have been studying our brains and our individual learning styles. Yesterday we had a scientific morning dissecting sheep’s brains to finish off our unit.
