CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations to the students who ran in the Moyne Cross Country last Friday. Eight students will be heading to Warrnambool for the Division Cross Country competition on Friday and we wish them well.
We have the Year 4 class and individual Year 5 & 6 students performing at the Eisteddfod next week. Thank you to Sam Kenna for preparing them for their poetry reading during their drama lessons.
It was wonderful to see so many mothers and grandmothers at the Mother's Day Breakfast last Friday. Thank you to Tony Jackson and his team of dads who prepared the delicious food and the mums who decorated the hall.
Congratulations to the children who made their sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday evening at the Infant Jesus Church in Koroit, along with children from St Patrick's Koroit, St John's Dennington and St Pius X West Warrnambool.
Please take the time to listen to the senior leader's very first podcast!!

SCHOOL PODCAST
Our Student Leadership Team have been busy creating a School Podcast. They have released the very first episode on Spotify today and are looking forward to releasing new episodes every fortnight. Their skills will continue to develop and we are excited to see what they can do in this space. Follow the link below to have a listen!
CLASSROOM NEWS - ARTS
What a huge start to the year we have had in the art department! If you have visited the school recently you will have noticed the most beautiful art pieces created by our students displayed all through the corridors. The next time you come to the school, make sure you take the time to admire all of the masterpieces.
This week marks the beginning of the Warrnambool Eisteddfod. We have students in Years 5 and 6 competing in the speech, poetry and scripture reading sections, along with all of our Year 4 students who will compete in the choral speaking section.
All parents and friends are welcome to attend. The eisteddfod is taking place at St Pius X Hall in Warrnambool. Please head to the following website for all of the times and dates of the performances: warrnambooleisteddfod.org.au/speech-drama
All of our students have been practicing hard for the big event and we wish them all good luck.

STATE BUDGET ANNOUNCEMENT
Last week the Allan Labor Government announced a $400 School Saving Bonus for all school students in government schools regardless of income but only for Health Care Card holders in Catholic schools.
This is deeply unfair.
We believe the payment should be means tested for all students or apply to all students.
It should not be based on which school you attend.
This policy punishes families for choosing to send their children to a Catholic school.
St Patrick's Primary School, DOBCEL and the Victorian Catholic Education Authority, are working hard to oppose this policy and we need your help.
We need to show the Victorian Government that punishing families who choose a Catholic School is unacceptable. Please consider contacting your local Member of Parliament to express your concern.
Thank you for your time in reading this and for advocating for your family and our schoo
SCHOOL STUDENT BROADBAND INITIATIVE
The Australian Governments School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) is available to families up to December 2025. This means for eligible families who sign up now, there is still over 18 months of free internet.
The Australian Government initiative was designed to boost education opportunities and narrow the digital divide, with the Australian Government providing up to 30,000 eligible families with school age children with no internet at home access to free NBN under the SSBI.
Access to the SSBI has become easier, with applications made through the National Referral Centre that parents/carers with school students can contact directly to check their eligibility.
Victorian families with students enrolled in Prep to Year 12, who do not have an active NBN connection (or had one in the previous 14 days) but can access a standard NBN service at their premises can become eligible with an application to the National Referral Centre.
You can find more information about the NRC on Anglicare Victoria’s website available here: Student Internet Program - Anglicare Victoria or contact Jordan Smith at the DOBCEL Office at jsmith@dobcel.catholic.edu.au

SCHOOL TV - RESPECTFUL LANGUAGE
“If you swear at someone, or about someone, you are actually committing an act of verbal violence. You transgress the usual rules of social interaction, impinging upon someone's self-image and their sense of dignity."
Dr Michael Carr-Gregg
IT'S TIME TO ENROL FOR 2025
Existing families with a child starting Foundation in 2025 are asked to complete the electronic enrolment enquiry document found under the Enrolment Information tab on our school website before June 19.
AUSTRALIAN EARLY DEVELOPMENT CENSUS
During the month of May all schools are required to complete the Australian Early Development Census for children in their first year of full-time schooling. This census assists in building a complete picture of early childhood development in Australia, so that the government can better understand and respond to the needs of children and their families. If any parents/carers do not consent to the collection of their child's information please contact the school.
