CHILD SAFETY STATEMENT
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
I had a wonderful time on my enrichment leave but it's oh so good to be back! It seems that you had better weather here in the middle of winter, than I did in Ireland/Scotland in the middle of summer. I even resorted to buying an umbrella in Scotland.
I experienced a deep spiritual connection while retracing the footsteps of the key historical organisations who had the courage and commitment to their catholic faith to leave their homeland of Ireland to travel to foreign lands, to spread the Gospel message and establish catholic schools in remote regions, such as our very own southwest of Victoria. The lush Irish landscape confirmed my belief that God can be found in the breath-taking views, bubbling streams, rushing waterfalls and majestic mountains and cliffs within nature. I was very privileged to have had this wonderful experience and share it with a group of my Principal colleagues.
I'd like to thank Tristan and the leadership team for the way they led the school in my absence and to the staff who supported them. I could never have taken the must needed leave if I wasn't confident of their abilities. Four days into my first week back I'm still trying to get my head around all that has been happened so far this term.
One of the big events next term will be175th Anniversary of the school. It is an important milestone in the life of the school. I encourage current parents to pass on the information to family and friends who may have attended St Patrick's for their primary education. We are looking for memorabilia from each era, for a display. If you or your family have photos to contribute to the display, please write your name on the back of them before handing them to the school. The link in the article below will take you to the booking site for the program.
I'm excited about the upcoming Trivia Night; always a fun night for everyone, whether you know the answers or not! Please book a spot so that you don't miss out. We will be calling for volunteers to do the clean up on the Saturday as the team organising the event will all be involved in the local football.

NEWS FROM THE ARTS
This term, our middle and senior school students are diving into a vibrant exploration of sustainability through their Visual Arts projects, centered around the theme, 'Bring Back to Life'.
Our middle year students have particularly embraced this theme, channeling their creativity into transforming old clothing into stunning new pieces, through tie-dye techniques. This hands-on approach not only brings a fresh perspective to fashion but also promotes environmental consciousness by repurposing materials. As our students experiment with color and design, they're learning valuable lessons about the impact of creative reuse and the importance of sustainability in the arts.
Our senior students are taking sustainability to the next level by transforming discarded materials into innovative fashion pieces. At the end of the term, we'll celebrate their creativity and resourcefulness with a 'Trashion Parade', where these unique outfits will be showcased. This exciting event highlights the students' commitment to environmental responsibility while offering a platform for their imaginative designs.

BOOKWEEK - AUGUST 19 -23
Book Week is coming up in Week 6 (August 19th - 23rd) and will culminate in our Book Week dress up day on Friday August 23rd.
The theme for Book Week this year is 'Reading is Magic' and whilst not compulsory, we do encourage students to dress up in a book character that matches the theme.
The costumes do not need to be elaborate and being creative is encouraged - no need to buy anything new for the occasion. The point of the week is to celebrate reading and encourage reading more often and students will participate in activities throughout the week to support this.
